Black Deer Festival

Black Deer Festival

Eridge Park in Kent is the oldest deer park in the country set in one of the most beautiful parts of the south-east. This year it will play host to the inaugural Black Deer Festival of Americana and Country.
This newest of all the UK festivals which runs from 22-24 June 2018 has it’s heart firmly in the countryside – smokehouse barbecue cooking, camping (in all it’s guises), crafts and custom motorcycles will accompany the first class line-up of musical artists, of whom Iron & Wine, Passenger and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have already been confirmed.
Stylorouge have undertaken the ongoing visual marketing campaign for the festival, which was announced straight after the Christmas break and the campaign has already generated fantastic interest and ticket sales.

Another Real Labour of Love for UB40

Another Real Labour of Love for UB40

UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey re-emerged as forerunners of the UK reggae scene when their Unplugged hits album was released by Universal at the end of 2016. Just over a year on they are back with an LP choc-full of cover versions of their favourite reggae plates from the 1980’s, the decade that really set them up as champions of disenfranchised youth and the standard bearers for home-grown, pop-friendly Jamaican music.
Following in the footsteps of the multi-million selling UB40 albums Labour Of Love and Labour Of Love ll, the new album has an art-based sleeve, designed by Stylorouge with illustration by Mark T Smith.

20th anniversary bash for Abbotsbury

Show of Hands have hosted a one-day festival in the glorious setting of Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens in Dorset for the last 19 years… and in the process have championed a lot of young talented folk/roots artists.
This year’s landmark event takes place on Saturday 7th July and will feature Police Dog Hogan, Midnight Skyracer, Alden, Patterson & Dashwood and Kirsty Merryn. They’ve decided to commemorate this 20th year with a promotional poster and a range of merchandise for which they have commissioned Stylorouge to come up with the artwork.

Not Alone is the first ever single release by Netherlands-born pop star of the future Shalisa van der Laan. Signed to Disney imprint Hollywood Records, Shalisa is known for winning the Junior Songfestival in the Netherlands in 2015. She participated in the contest with the song “A Million Lights”, which she wrote herself at the tender age of 15. She played the leading role in the Disney Channel series Just Like Me! and recorded the Dutch title track of the hit series Soy Luna. She also provided the voice of Princess Elena in the animation series Elena of Avalor, all while finishing high school.
Stylorouge’s Rob O’Connor was asked to take the photographs for Shalisa’s single sleeve, which was designed by her graphic designer mum Norma.

Christopher Cross

Christopher Cross

Ride Like The Wind, Sailing, Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do) earned Christopher Cross a fistful of Grammy’s and even an Oscar back at the foot of the ’80’s and despite never reaching those heady heights since then, Christopher has continued to forge a career as one of the most highly regarded singer songwriters in ‘soft rock’ history. However, 2018 is set to be a big year for Christopher for reasons that will become evident as the months go by, and as something of a prelude to this he has just released his fifteenth solo album, Take Me As I Am and is putting the finishing touches to a single.
He asked Stylorouge to design a cover for both releases and we were delighted to immerse ourselves in his musical history as we considered ways to re-present his new material using his faithful talismanic icon – the flamingo.
You can check out the album at christophercross.com

A ‘Best of Fancy Pants’ single album, simply entitled Pants will be available in time for the tour which kicks off in Derby on 15th March.

Robbie McIntosh plays Chet

Robbie McIntosh plays Chet

Robbie was in Paul McCartney’s band for six years before joining the touring outfits of Norah Jones, John Mayer and Tom Jones among others. He was a member of The Pretenders, has played on dozens of hit tracks, for the likes of Tears For Fears and the mighty Talk Talk… His early influences included George Harrison and the Country Gentleman himself, Chet Atkins.
Thanks Chet is his tribute to this pioneer of electric guitar, combining Robbie’s own compositions for solo guitar with covers of pop standards old and new, all appropriately played on a Gretsch Country Gentleman.
Stylorouge have delivered a photoshoot, an album sleeve and promotional EPK video clips for Robbie, whose album Thanks Chet will be released early in 2018.

Luke Fitzpatrick

Luke Fitzpatrick

Golf is the new rock’n’ roll! – at least according to experienced executive producer, music and artist manager Matthew Fletcher of Happy Entertainment. With this in mind he has taken on management of the extremely talented young pro golfer Luke Fitzpatrick.  Berkshire-based Luke has been playing the game since he was at junior school and has never lost sight of his great sporting ambitions.
The relationship between Happy and Luke represents a commitment for the company to golf, and sport in general as a crucial part of personal development for today’s and tomorrow’s youth. It also has enormous potential for growth into all areas of the media – and Happy intend to demonstrate this in the coming months.
Stylorouge have designed a logo for Luke Fitzpatrick and have been working alongside Happy to create PR tools for both Luke and the company’s vision for the future of golf itself

Happy Christmasaurus!

Happy Christmasaurus!

For the benefit of anyone who’s been living at the North Pole for the past couple of years let us introduce the most festive extinct animal in children’s literature; The Christmasaurus. This novel is the brainchild of McFly and McBusted singer/songwriter Tom Fletcher – a truly multi-media man.
Last year, The Musical Edition version of ‘The Christmasaurus’ was released, which includes both the novel and a brand new 14 track CD. The book and CD package marks the very first time an author has written a soundtrack to their novel.

The Christmasaurus Live, was brought to the stage for a hugely successful two week run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith during the Christmas season.
Stylorouge have had the pleasure of producing marketing and PR assets for the growing campaign, adapting the brilliant images of book illustrator Shane DeVries, and the book design courtesy of the design department at Penguin Books.
Starring in the live show, alongside Tom himself, was his sister (Carrie Hope Fletcher), bandmates Harry Judd and Matt Willis, and even Tom’s wife – Giovanna Fletcher, withHappy Entertainment managing the whole process.  ‘The Christmasaurus’ is also being turned into an animated feature film, directed by Michael Gracey, whose The Greatest Showman opened in the UK on Boxing day. The Christmasaurus is gonna be a monster…

Folk Fever – “going back to my roots”

The Band Of Love is a one-off collaboration between musician/producer Mark Tucker (Portishead, PJ Harvey, Jethro Tull) and a host of stars from the thriving UK Folk scene. His vision for the album Folk Fever was to create an album of disco classics in a folk idiom. As the preview on Amazon explains “the recordings on Folk Fever show them to be joined at the hip, moving in step and ready for action. The album features 13 tracks of folk disco magnificence and brings together exciting new artists and respected veterans including Mike McGoldrick, Phil Beer & Steve Knightley (Show Of Hands), Patsy Reid, Matt Downer and Rune Cygan Barslund alongside The Band Of Love members Jim Causley, Greg Russell, Hannah Martin, Philip Henry and Alice Jones”.
Encouraged by the boundless imagination of Musician entrepreneur Ian Brown, Folk Fever is to be released by Island Records on 30 March and features a sleeve designed by Stylorouge and illustrated by Ieuan Edwards.

A new website, tour and book for Del Amitri

A new website, tour and book for Del Amitri

A mere 28 years since we first worked for them on the sleeve design of their Waking Hours album, Stylorouge have been producing a new website for one of our favourite ever bands, Del Amitri. In 2018 the band take to the road for a rare handful of UK dates, and in a flurry of tour announcement activity we have been sifting through years of Del Amitri photos amd memorabilia to put the new site together.

Meanwhile, in Adelaide, South Australia super-fan Charles Rawlings-Way has been putting the final polish on his labour-of-love career-spanning band biography, which will also see the light of day in the new year. (We’ve been working on a cover for that too). More later…
In the meantime, check out the new site at delamitri.info and for no apparent reason except we like it, here’s our album cover for Change Everything which features a shot taken in a stolen moment during a lunch-break on an Amsterdam building site by Kevin Westenberg.

Opening the Score for Sony/ATV

Opening the Score for Sony/ATV

Advertising agency Lonely Goat came to Stylorouge to help them realise their marketing concepts for international music publishers’ Sony/ATV’s new online royalties accounting portal, Score.
Artists who publish their music with the music giants, such as Ed Sheeran and Motown’s founder Berry Gordy are able to monitor their royalty payments 24:7 online, and the simple-to-use website required a strong campaign to launch it to the trade.
Lonely Goat creative director Andy Cronk art directed the advertising campaign, with Rob O’Connor taking the photographs.
